How we can help:
Peter's Story
Peter had always been independent. Since losing his wife five years earlier, he'd insisted he was "managing just fine." But his daughter, Tracy, could see the little changes. The fridge was often empty, meals were skipped, and the house wasn't as tidy as it once was. Most worrying of all, Peter had started forgetting his medication and had a couple of minor falls that he never mentioned.
Concerned, Tracy contacted social work hoping to arrange some support. After an assessment, she was told that while Peter was finding things more difficult, he didn't meet the current eligibility criteria for funded care.
She left feeling disappointed. Her dad clearly needed help—but not enough to qualify.
Determined to find another way, Tracy contacted Care Solutions Homecare. From the very first conversation, she felt listened to. Together they created a personalised support plan that fitted Peter's needs and his budget.
A friendly carer now visits three mornings a week, helping Peter get washed and dressed, preparing breakfast, checking his medication, and making sure he has everything he needs. They also spend time chatting over a cup of tea, something Peter looks forward to more than he'd ever admit. Tracy says the rapport the carers have with her dad is fantastic and the laughs she hears from her dad is wonderful.
Today, Peter is happier, more confident, and able to remain in the home he loves. Tracy no longer spends every day worrying whether her dad is safe, because she knows someone she trusts is there when she can't be.
Sometimes, the right support isn't about doing everything for someone. It's about providing just enough help at the right time, so they can continue living life on their own terms.
